What Our Customers Are Saying

These are just some of the individuals and organisations that have used the services of Castle Coaching Fitness.  Here’s what they have to say.

Although I have been running for a number of years, it was only when I met Chris and he started coaching me that I really started to make progress and understand how I could achieve my goals.

Chris sets varied sessions and knows just what targets to set for the individual. He manages a wide range of levels of ability by differentiating sessions to enable everyone to get the most out of each session. Chris has been good company on many weekend racing trips including the Conwy half marathon and the London marathon. He has enabled me to achieve pbs in all race distances from 3000m to the marathon. In addition, he coached me to win the Staffs knot race in two consecutive years. Chris gets the best out of everyone and I look forward to many more sessions and races with him.

I am a member of a beginners running group at my place of work and Chris has come along a couple of times to give us a training session. He is friendly, approachable and knows his stuff. The sessions are interesting for the variety and they have motivated me to try more running on my own at home.

I first met Chris in the Spring of 1997 when I went along to the Athletics track at Rowley Park with a view to getting fitter to play more football. During that first conversation, Chris asked me what I wanted to achieve from running. I casually said, ‘I’d like to run a sub 2 minute 800m and a Marathon.’ I realise now that I had so little knowledge of running then but with Chris’s help and guidance, it helped me realise both of those goals. That isn’t the surprising part though; I achieved both of these goals in a little over 5 years.

With Chris you get personal commitment, quality input and attention to detail. Every athlete that I know Chris has worked with has improved and achieved their goals. He monitors the progress of each of his athletes and is not afraid to amend a session to suit the individual. When questioned about what each session is designed to deliver, he logically explains the reasons and science behind the session he has set.

All in all, Chris’s attention to detail and approach to a sport he loves allowed me to achieve far beyond the original goals we set at that first meeting. His positive attitude spurred me on to represent Great Britain at 800m and 1500m and picked up many national championships in able bodied events as well as in my disability class. The most notable of my achievements was a bronze medal for the 1500m at the IPC World Athletics Championships held in Lille, France in 2002.

I have no hesitation in recommending Chris Hollinshead for all your coaching needs.

Chris and Bob were very professional and well organised, they were able to provide all the necessary paperwork required by a school, arriving early to set up for each session, bringing with them a whole range of athletics equipment for the children to use.  The athletics sessions were run as an after school club.  They were all very high quality, well planned and active sessions which were thoroughly enjoyed by the children.  The sessions not only taught key athletics skills but also those all important underlying personal values of challenge, resilience and sportsmanship.
